SimAkin ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What We Collect

When you use SimAkin (the website or Chrome extension), we may collect:

Quiz answers — used only to calculate your reviewer personality type. We do not store individual answers.
Personality type result — stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage) on the extension. Not sent to our servers unless you use the Analyze feature.
Email address — only if you voluntarily provide it to receive your profile results. We do not sell or share your email.
Review text — when you click "Analyze Reviews", the review text on the current page is sent to our server to calculate a match score. We do not store this text after scoring.
Usage analytics — we use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data (pages visited, buttons clicked) to improve the product. No personally identifiable information is collected.

2. How We Use Your Data

To calculate and display your reviewer personality type
To score reviews against your profile using AI
To send your profile results if you provide your email
To improve SimAkin through anonymous analytics

3. Chrome Extension — Data Handling

The SimAkin Chrome extension:

Stores your personality type locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device unless you use the Analyze feature.
Only activates on Amazon, Google, and Yelp pages.
Reads review text on those pages solely to calculate match scores. Review text is sent to our API, scored, and immediately discarded — we do not store it.
Does not track your browsing history, clicks, or any other activity outside of review scoring.

4. Third-Party Services

Anthropic Claude API — used to score review matches. Review text is sent to Anthropic's API under their privacy policy.
PostHog — anonymous analytics. See PostHog's privacy policy.
Vercel — our hosting provider. See Vercel's privacy policy.

5. Data Retention

We do not retain review text after scoring. Your email address (if provided) is retained until you request deletion. Anonymous analytics data is retained for 12 months.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to request deletion of any data we hold about you. To do so, email us at privacy@simakin.com.

7. Children's Privacy

SimAkin is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
